Do Devon wedding bands take song requests?
You would think that any Devon band which advertises itself using one of those grandiose phrases like “your perfect wedding band” or “the best wedding band Devon has to offer” would be all about the song requests. Certainly, bands who offer live entertainment for weddings should be able to provide a music service customised to the tastes of brides and grooms who hire them. However, one of the first signs of a band willing to cut corners is one which is less than enthusiastic when it comes to the prospect of venturing outside the body of songs that they already know. This could be because the repertoire they originally learnt has served them well for a number of years and they don’t feel the need to add modern songs.
It could also be that they don’t possess the musical talent to be able to learn and play song requests, but often it’s that they just don’t want to put in the effort to learn songs that they may not like. Unfortunately, bands like this who refuse to move with the times have failed to realise that at wedding receptions, it’s YOU – not them – who are the main attraction. As a bride and groom, you are focus of attention and it’s you that your friends, families and loved ones have come to see. Weddings bands are service providers, they are there to do a job, and if wedding bands are unwilling or unable to learn song requests, it’s also likely that they will consider cutting corners in other ways.
It doesn’t have to be like this – HARD TO HANDLE BAND have a huge 370+ song live band playlist. How? By learning and playing song requests. In fact, each wedding reception we play is likely to feature at least one song that we have learnt specifically for the bride and groom or wedding guests. And though not all of them are added to our playlist (usually because they are first dances and as such a song that the bride and groom love but not necessarily widely known), when song request is popular, it’s going to feature in our online repertoire. We LOVE learning new songs and unlike song wedding bands in Devon we don’t charge for learning them!
What do wedding bands sound like at Ash Barton Estate?
It’s probably true that almost any live bands will sound good at Ash Barton Estate due to the venues’ amazing in-house sound system which Devon wedding bands are required to use as a condition of attending. However, if you have hired Ash Barton and are in the process of getting quotes from live music bands for your wedding, it’s worth mentioning the above to any band when requesting information. Why? Because some bands will not be comfortable with using a sound system provided by the venue. They will worry that it will be unfamiliar to them; they won’t know how to use it and won’t know how it will make them sound. Some bands will flatly refuse to countenance the idea of being versatile enough make the extra effort to use an in-house system, and some may say “OK” but try to bypass this requirement by setting up their own system.
There are reasons why venues require Devon wedding bands to use the sound system provided. Sometimes venues will try to explain the rationale behind this set up to us when we begin liaising; with them, but as a professional wedding band we tell them that we don’t need to know – the fact that they have gone to the effort and expense of having a system installed must mean that there is a requirement, and that’s good enough for us – HARD TO HANDLE BAND will work within whatever stipulations venues state as a condition of hire, we will work with venue managers to ensure that they are happy with our set up, and we will work with the installed sound system to ensure that we sound great. This approach is just one of the reasons why Ash Barton Estate loves HARD TO HANDLE BAND!
