Cost effective Liverpool wedding band
So what’s the difference between choosing to hire a three piece act as your Liverpool wedding band and a large party-style band? We’re glad you asked. One of the biggest differences has to be the cost. Now as a bride and groom looking to hire local bands in Liverpool for weddings, of course you want to provide the best possible live entertainment for your guests.
But beyond the “wow” factor and kudos you will receive for going one better than the cheesy DJ your friend hired for their wedding music, any of the Liverpool wedding bands you are potentially looking at hiring will realistically need to fall within your wedding entertainment budget.
How much does a wedding band cost?
Your first port of call to get an idea of how much a wedding band might charge is likely to be a wedding entertainment agency. Unfortunately, while the Liverpool wedding bands may look and sound good, they are also going to come in at an inflated fee.
We can say this with certainty because with any wedding bands for hire through an agency, you will be paying a commission. Much like price comparison websites, you are paying both the wedding band AND the agency, who will usually add between 15% and 20% onto the bands’ fee, which could be the difference between you keeping within your wedding entertainment budget or having to overspend.
No hidden fees
But hiring a wedding band direct means that you won’t have to pay a third party. The HARD TO HANDLE BAND website is owned and operated by us, the band, so when we quote you, we guarantee that there are no additional fees.
Even if you do hire a wedding band direct, some Liverpool wedding bands will still cost a lot more than others. This could be for any number of reasons, but it’s most likely to be due to the size of the band – the more wedding musicians in the band, the more you will have to pay.
That’s why we put together HARD TO HANDLE as a Liverpool wedding band – our three piece line up of male vocals, guitar, bass and drums is the classic live band set up, meaning you get a full live band sound without the need for additional musicians and without the band having to use cheesy backing tracks (just listen to our music to see what we mean).
All of this means that from the outset, we are going to be a more attractive proposition than larger wedding bands in Liverpool.
Did we mention hidden fees? While it’s a standard practice with some wedding bands in Liverpool to provide you with a sliding scale of charges, when HARD TO HANDLE provide you with a quote, there will be no extra charges.
Free live DJ service
Some wedding bands charge additional fees for DJ music (even though they don’t always provide a live DJ but instead just use a Spotify playlist). They may charge you to learn you first dance or other songs. If they are travelling from outside Merseyside they may even charge you for travel and accommodation!
We won’t charge you extra for our live DJ service – it comes free of charge. We won’t charge you for our sound system or lights, and we are happy to take a look at learning any song requests you may have (including your first dance) and we definitely won’t charge you any travel or accommodation fees.
Free DJ? Yes, that’s correct. When you hire HARD TO HANDLE BAND, there’s no need to hire a separate DJ as we provide our own, free of charge, playing and mixing music sets when the band take a break and until the end of the night. Not all wedding bands for hire will offer this, or if they do, they’ll charge you extra.
Of course, you’re more than welcome to provide your own DJ if you prefer, but isn’t it great to know that you can hire a wedding band and DJ in one fell swoop?
You choose the music we play
Let’s talk about music. We are pretty confident when we say that all of the music we’ll perform at your wedding reception will get you and your guests on the dance floor from the first song until the end of the night.
This because we let you choose the music we play. That’s something not all Liverpool wedding bands will be prepared to let you do.
Think about that for a minute – in your wedding band Liverpool search, how many times have you browsed the wedding bands’ playlist and liked some of their songs but not some of the others? What happens if you ask the wedding band you are interested in hiring if they will just play your favourite songs – will they still insist on playing the songs they want to play, too?
Unfortunately it’s true that quite a few wedding bands just have one playlist and while they may include a couple of your song requests, they may also play songs you’d prefer not to hear, just because they like them or think that you and your guests will, which we think is a little disappointing.
HARD TO HANDLE BAND are a little different. We definitely wouldn’t want to play songs you don’t like – one of the reasons our playlist is so large and varied (over 350 songs featuring rock, indie, pop, soul and more) is that we learn and play lots of guests’ favourite songs.
So sit down with your partner and family and compile a list of your favourite songs for us to play! You can even ask all of your guests to request a song, too. It’s a great way of getting involved with your wedding entertainment and ensuring a full dance floor. A full dance floor makes clients happy, and when you’re happy, we’re happy too.
Pub-style wedding bands and genuine reviews
For brides and groom who hire wedding bands, recommendations are great. Hearing a friend say they had a great band perform at their wedding reception can be really useful if you are planning to hire them. Some people also say “don’t hire wedding bands until you have seen them play”.
The problem with this is that the type of band you are likely to see playing live are not professional Liverpool wedding bands; but more amateur-style pub and club bands. And while if you see the band play and you like them, this may not be a problem at the outset, a few red flags may raise themselves as you get closer to the big day.
Typically, as unlike full time Liverpool wedding bands, a pub-style band won’t hold public liability insurance, which means that most Liverpool wedding venues will not allow them onsite to perform on your big day. Once you discover this, it will come as a shock, and the only way around this is for the band to buy an insurance policy. Of course, you could do this yourself but with the extra hundreds of pounds you will have to pay, you might as well hire a professional wedding band instead!
Amateur bands may not have thought to issue you with a contract, which is fine if you’re happy to proceed on an informal basis, but given that every other professional service provider you’re hiring will issue you with this important document specifying exactly the type of service to expect and safeguarding your rights as a consumer, is it really best to cut corners like this?
When it comes to wedding bands for hire, you really don’t have to take things on trust – there are ways and means of ensuring the quality of service you will receive, and reading reviews of the band is a great way of doing this.
Unfortunately it’s very easy for unscrupulous bands to write their own reviews and make them look genuine. Often it’s easy to tell when a review is genuine or not, but when a review sounds good and mentions specific names and venues, they may seem more genuine than they actually are.
Fortunately, the HARD TO HANDLE BAND website features lots of video reviews. How can you tell if they’re genuine? Because you can see the bride and groom talking to one of the band! Take a look at our reviews here.
