If you look carefully, you’ll discover that the wild animals aren’t confined to the enclosures and grounds of Woburn Safari Park. If you’re really lucky you might just catch a glimpse of the greater veiled human bride. These gregarious and sociable beautifully plumed creatures are usually the female of the species and are treated with respect and deference by their group, who reinforce their social cohesion by coming together, bestowing gifts, eating, drinking and engaging in ritualistic dancing which becomes more and exaggerated as the night continues. Our intrepid musicians managed to snare one of these lovely creatures, Heather, towards the end of one of these displays.
Having spent years studying their ways, we were able to communicate with her. Heather told us she loved our performance, heard the songs she wanted to hear and had had the best night ever!
