While we sincerely appreciate any positive feedback, “most amazing band ever” may seem a little overly-effusive, and while we hate to disagree with such praise, some caveats are definitely required.
Lauren and Raiyyan hired HARD TO HANDLE BAND to perform at their wedding reception at the wonderful Ashbarton Estate in Braunton, Devon, a venue a few hours’ drive away but one we love performing at whenever we are hired to play there.
The acoustics of the room for a Devon wedding band are superb, venue manager and staff are very accommodating and seem to enjoy our performances (we often see them dancing to our music behind the bar, so that must be a good thing!)
Bride and groom adopted a novel approach to their first dance – they opted to let their guests choose on the night by way of a secret vote, conducted by collecting and collated choices during the wedding breakfast. Would it be “Can’t take my eyes off you” by Frankie Valli or “Follow you” by Bring me the Horizon? As you can tell, this reflected the eclectic music tastes of Lauren and Raiyyan, but it was all good as we had both ready to pay when the results were known (it was the former).
Before we forget, clearly we are not the “most amazing band ever” – that honour is reserved for The Beatles, or Queen, or Nickelback (ahem). But in the context of the trust Lauren placed in us, our ability to be the most amazing band is important. As a professional function band performing for brides, groom and other party planners around the UK, we recognised the importance of trust – a major life event which has required many hours of organisation and relies on several different components to work together in order for the evening to be successful can represent a stressful time for the organiser, especially if – like most people – this is your first time organising an event.
You need to be assured that you can trust whichever service provider you hire – and while you obviously want the live band you hire to turn up and perform (that’s a given, though dependent on the band you hire, it’s not a guarantee…), there are other things that sit around the bands’ performance that you also need to trust. A professional band needs to demonstrate the following as a bare minimum:
- That they are still performing regularly. Hiring a Devon wedding band such as HARD TO HANDLE means that you will have a band who are “match fit” and not rusty. We play over 200 bookings per year so we are ready to rock! You will find evidence of this in the hundreds of performance video reviews here.
- That their communication is timely and comprehensive. This can apply to emails and phone calls (both in advance and answering any last minute questions you might have) with yourself, the venue and any other service providers involved. HARD TO HANDLE reply to communication as quickly as possible to ensure you have the all information you require.
- That they can demonstrate continuity. In a world of “here today, gone tomorrow”, it’s not just nice to know that the service provider you are interested in hiring has a continuous track record of performance, it’s vital. With that in mind, take a look at our news page – you’ll see a continuous performance blog dating back to 2008. This means that we have been gigging continuously for over 17 years, building up an unrivalled stock of industry experience and knowledge for you to benefit from.
This is that we refer to when we talk about trust, and it’s one of the reasons why Raiyyan and Lauren are allowed to call us the “most amazing band ever”!
