We’re always gratified when we receive enquiries from prospective clients based on recommendations. Sometimes it’s a wedding couple who have seen us perform at a friends’ wedding reception and decide that HARD TO HANDLE BAND are the perfect for for their requirements; sometimes a bride-to-be will have seen us play at a works function or corporate event and will be so impressed with our mix of music and onstage energy that she books us there and then, and every now and then we will get a phone that starts “we saw you playing for our friends back in 2011 and decided that if we ever got married we would hire you!”, which always blows us away as it means that our performance was so memorable that a wedding couple kept us in mind for over 13 years!
Phoebe and Tom saw us perform several years ago at a family members’ wedding reception and decide to hire us to entertain guests at Cherry Barn, near Rye Sussex with one proviso – both bride and groom are musicians and definitely wanted to get in on the act, playing drums and singing with us on “Proud Mary”. And whereas some bands would get a little sniffy at other musicians stealing their limelight, HARD TO HANDLE BAND are canny enough to know that any time a bride or groom wants to get up and sing or play with us, it will be the highlight of the evening not just for them but for all of their guests, too – and as far as we are concerned, that’s that it’s all about. We’re there to entertain you and anything we can do to help facilitate that is all good with us (within reason – we draw the line at stripping off and playing naked, so please don’t ask).
Lots of song requests! From the first dance, “Greatest Day”, Take That, through classic rock like Sweet home Alabama, through to 90s and 200s anthems like “All star”, Smash Mouth and “Year 3000”, Busted, we kept the dance floor full all night. So happy were Phoebe and Tom with our performance that they said “thank you thank you thank you thank you!” more times than we can count. We think we can count that as a big win!
