Song requests. Bands. Weddings. You would think that these three things go hand-in-hand, like a bride and groom walking back up the aisle. If you hire a live band for your West Yorkshire wedding reception, there’s a reasonable expectation that you should be able to request songs for them to play. After all, it’s your big day; you want everything to be an expression of your tastes and as such your service providers need to be able to provide just this – you have chosen a wedding dress that suits you, your cake provider has designed a cake to meet your requirements and your interior décor specialists have worked to your visual theme.
But what about the wedding band you have hired? Well hopefully if you have gotten to the stage of exchanging contracts and paying a deposit, you will have already ensured that the band are happy to play song requests. If not, you may have gotten lucky and found a band who will play your song requests, or you may have hit the brick wall of “no, we don’t play song requests, we just play a single setlist”. It happens a lot.
Our advice is to ask the question as soon as you make first contact with the band. If the wedding band says they will play song requests, the next two questions should be “how many” and “how much”, by which we mean “how many song requests are you happy to play” and “how much do you charge for learning new songs”. The answer you receive will depend the type of band you have contacted, or more specifically how the band sees the service they provided.
If the West Yorkshire band you are interested in hiring are not customer focussed, you might find that they begrudgingly agree to play your first dance and learn one or two more songs but no more. If they are focussed solely on taking as much money as possible from you, they will charge you for the privilege of learning new songs.

We believe it’s best to charge one fee for your whole nights’ entertainment, including band, DJ, sound system, lights and of course song requests. In 2 hours of live band music we can perform up to 34 songs, and you are welcome to choose as many songs as you like, either from our massive 350+ song playlist or songs that you would like us to learn.
