If you’re not from the UK, planning on visiting and wondering where to go, you may have started by casting your eye over a map. After noticing London, your eye may wander to the plethora of curiously-named small villages that dot the landscape. Down south, they often sound quaint, but move further north and you may be put off by some of the names, which can sound less than enticing. “Scunthorpe? Eww!” “Grimsby? No way!” “Grimethorpe? Are you kidding me?”
The irony is that despite their questionable names, and any British person will tell you that Scunthorpe is quite literally the most beautiful town in the UK, and running a close second is Driffield, nestling in the East Riding of Yorkshire, which is no doubt why Christopher and Charlotte chose to host their wedding reception there – or more specifically Oaklands wedding venue.
Yes, some names can be deceiving, and while the venue name may sound like a furniture outlet, one viewing it is mightily impressive, as the name of the performance room – The Grand Lodge – suggests. One the day in question, we loaded into the room and set up on the stage, performed a brief sound check and then awaited the entrance of bride Charlotte, groom Christopher and their guests.
